Story about a fortune teller who reads palms. She can tell when someone is going to die because the lifeline on their right hand begins to fade away 24 hours before the end. She does her readings sitting behind a curtain. She never sees the client who comes for the reading, and no one ever sees her; they only hear her voice. Nobody ever gets a second reading: if their lifeline is strong and deep, she doesn't do a reading. She just sends them away empty-handed, as it were. And if their lifeline is weak and fading, well, they don't get a second reading either.
