Job Creation

A “job” (and its description) is a noun, “work” is a verb; jobs can be created without ever putting people to work. For example, my driveway needs re-paving, I need a new roof, my air conditioner needs to be replaced, my house needs painting, the backyard needs to be dug up to prepare for spring planting and my barn needs repairs. I just “created” six jobs, but no work. A job is a “piece of work (a task), esp. one that is paid”…...that’s the important part: being paid for the work. There’s 535 people elected to congress, that means 535 new jobs to fill, and work to be done…....just like that (“SNAP! CRACKLE! POP!”).
