THE ETHOS OF THE INTERNET

The degree to which technology and its opportune services become accessible, customizable, affordable, personal –  into whatever area of our lives the frontiers of technology reach -- to that extent our lives are regulated and governed by a politic over which we have no control. By acquiring the internet, we are complicit in acquiescing to arbitrary rules of conformity; in other words, to borrow from Wittgenstein, consciousness of the internet is its meaning. Awareness itself is a consent to mores of acceptability to the constraints and definitions of social standards to which we have no ownership, and which is antithetical to self-interest.
